A collection of market gardens in and around Needham, MA

The Neighborhood Farm Newsletter 2/15/09

Greetings from The Neighborhood Farm!

We are teaming up with Heaven's Harvest and Enterprise Farms again to bring up another load of certified organic citrus from Eagle's Nest Farm in Florida.  The January citrus was amazing. This month the fruit will arrive on Saturday February 28th.  The mix in this month's box will be a bit different since it is later in the season.  We expect the boxes to have red grapefruit, red valencia oranges and honey tangerines.  A full box (40 lbs +) is $68 and a half box is $37.  That is about $1.70/lb if you get a full box (way less than the organic citrus at Whole Foods!)  If you would like to order, email me and I'll give you the details.  Feel free to pass this along to anyone you think might be interested.

On March 2nd, the Needham Community Farm is hosting an event at the Needham Public Library.  There will be a presentation about community farms given by Greg Maslowe from Newton Community Farm and Verena Wieloch from Gaining Ground Farm in Concord.  If you would like to know more about community farms in general or plans for the Needham farm in particular, please stop by.  The presentation will be in the Community Room from 7:30 to 9.  There will be light snacks and a contest to win dinner for two at Sweet Basil.  For more information visit www.needhamfarm.org

There is growing interest in starting a weekly farmer's market in Needham.  We are looking for people and/or organizations to help with this project.  If you are interested in getting involved, please email me.
