Greetings from The Neighborhood Farm!
The thunderstorms have brought some much needed rain. The crops are
looking healthy and happy. The weeds are also looking healthy and
happy. Gardening is never simple.
We are gearing up for our first farmer's market on Wednesday July
9th in Dedham Square. You can check out the farmer's market website
at
http://dedhamfarmersmarket.
The logistics of a participating in a farmer's market seemed simple
at first, but as we've approached the start date many complications
have developed. For example: who sells pint and quart containers?
Plastic vegetable bags? Do we have the legs for the pop-up tent?
Thankfully, we've resolved these issues, although more are sure to
arise before our first market. We are actually planning on having a
"dress rehearsal" in the garage before we go.
Because we have so much to do, we are not going to send out another
email until after the first market. If you want veggies next week,
come see us at the market on the 9th. Beginning the following week,
we are planning to send out our offer emails over the weekend for a
Monday pickup. We have been experimenting with days of the week as
we see how long it takes for various crops to be ready for another
harvest. As the season progresses, things tend to ripen more quickly
and we can harvest more frequently.
